Having A Positive Attitude
Your attitude determines the state of the world you live in and is the foundation for all of your successes and failures. In uncertain times maintaining a positive attitude can be difficult but it is not impossible. Having a positive attitude improves your relationships, makes you happier and increases your chances of success.
- Identifying negative thinking
- Filtering: You pay more attention to the negative aspects of a situation, instead of the positive aspects.
- Personalizing: you automatically blame yourself when something bad happens
- Catastrophizing. You automatically anticipate the worst to happen
- Polarizing. You see things only as either good or bad. There is no middle ground. You feel that you have to be perfect or you're a total failure.
In Uncertain Times
1. Take time to reflect on things you're grateful for
2. Try to stay connected with positive people. In times of uncertainty and isolation, staying connected with others (virtually or in person) can contribute to lifting your mood and decrease feelings of loneliness.
3. Take care of yourself. Not sleeping, not exercising and having a poor diet contributes to worry and feelings of anxiety.
4. Recognize that difficult times are just difficult times. Things will not be this way forever
5. Thinks about what you have done well. Out of everything that you have encountered during this time, reflect on how you have approached and managed these challenges.
Things To Tell Yourself When Taking Responsibility For Your Attitude:
- I create my life.
- I am responsible for me.
- I’m in charge of my destiny.
